"Mirrorball" - Taylor Swift

Can refreshers still be enjoyed once summer is over?

As we are moving into the middle of September, the sweaters are coming out of the closet, iced coffees are being replaced by pumpkin spice, and the beach is feeling a little too cold for lounging around. People have different opinions about when summer ends and fall begins: some say once school starts, others say after Labor Day, and then when it actually becomes the first day of autumn. Personally, once Labor Day weekend is over, that is when it is time to say goodbye to the best season ever (bias I know) and time for cozy candles, soft music, and preparations for fall.

The last week of August Starbucks dropped their Fall Menu, which some believed was too early, and others disagreeing noting it was the perfect time. I’ve been noticing that more individuals are walking around with hot drinks than cold. I’ve been pondering this for some time.

I am a huge refresher person. I’d more like to say that I am more of a cold drink than hot drink person. I would choose a strawberry lemonade acai than a pumpkin spice latte. I only drink hot coffee when it is super cold out, and that is only at church during the holidays. Otherwise, you will catch me at Christmas with an adorable venti Starbucks drink.

I believe it is the idea that since the weather is starting to cool down, and everyone is back at school, not a lot of people find enjoyment in a summery drink. I know the difference in how I feel when drinking a refresher in July versus January. Summer brings so much joy to people’s lives. The weather is nicer out, everyone can enjoy being outside, no school for us kids, what can get better than that!

While I look forward to having my warm apple cider in a mug tonight, I am going to miss sitting at the pool, with SZA and Taylor Swift in the background, taking in every moment of summer.

Could you tell I love summer?
